Hey GirlFRIENDS!
Want to do something fun, meaningful, and a bit uncomfortable? Gather your GirlFriends and…
- Choose a location to meet, surrounded by lots of stores.
- Have everyone combine the cash they brought into an envelope. (Don’t forget to bring an envelope and remind your GirlFriends to bring some cash)
- Come up with a few names of people in your church or gathering that could use some encouragement.
- Time to shop! Divide up the money and divide up your group (if necessary) to shop for a gift to give the people you chose.
- Have a designated time to regroup after shopping (about an hour and a half). Share your purchases, pray for the people you are blessing, and choose someone to deliver the gifts.
- Commit to praying for your people for 5 days.
- Done? I’d love to know how this went. Please take a picture and message me. Your photos can also be posted on the GirlFriends With a Mission Facebook Page.
Example: Pool your money to buy a card, flowers, and a restaurant gift card for a young mom who is discouraged and exhausted. Write in the card that the women in your group are committed to praying for her for the next 5 days. Buy it all today and have someone in your group deliver it tomorrow. Try to complete your mission in 48 hours.
Do you want to add another level to make this truly uncomfortable? Challenge your GirlFriends to go screen-free for the day of the event.
Answer these questions…
a) How is your screen fast going?
b) What are your personal challenges with screens?
c) How are screens affecting those closest to you?

Time-Out
What do you want to talk about?
Our young women are VERY open to big and difficult conversations. At City’s Edge Community Church we have GirlFriends Time-Outs. The concept is simple. A couple of our women take out two or three teens to dinner, and then they talk. About what? Anything they want or anything on this list. The conversations have been amazing! Download the PDF sign-up sheet and have your girls sign up for the conversations they want to have. Don’t forget to take their picture. This picture was taken at the Old Spaghetti Factory. We talked about Anxiety, Insecurity, Depression and Screens. We all left encouraged and better connected. The girls LOVED going out to dinner together. I also encourage the parents to chip in a little extra to pay for the hosts, who are often in their 20’s and low on cash.
